Rick Kugler, M.S., CPRP
Rick Kugler is a training associate at the ICI. He has developed and delivered training programs nationally, covering a wide range of topics about employment and disability, and has over 20 years of experience in the field. In his current role, Rick designs curriculum for both in-person and online training, and provides technical assistance, consultation, and training for various rehabilitation providers. His specialty areas include work incentive counseling policy, employment rights and protections, and employment strategies for people with co-occurring mental health and substance-use disorders.
Before joining the ICI, Rick was an instructor and employment consultant with the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was also a project director at Matrix Research Institute. Both these initiatives provided information, resources, and training on behalf of people with mental illness and dual disorders.
Rick has managed grant-funded projects involving training and dissemination. He has also worked as a vocational coordinator at a clubhouse psychosocial/vocational program, and has nine years of experience as a psychiatric treatment assistant in a clinical setting.
